LINCOLN CITY, Ore. — Oregon State Police and the Lincoln County Interagency Crash Team are continuing their investigation into a two-vehicle fatal crash on Highway 101 Sunday.
Around 6:45 p.m., a Cadillac Deville driven by patty A. Weissenfluh, 58, of Depoe Bay, was travelling southbound near milepost 111 through a right curve. Weissenfluh crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Kia Soul driven by Donna Jeanne Ball, 71, of Salem.
Ball was transported by REACH Mediplane Air Ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, where she later died.
Weissenfluh was also transported to the medical center by REACH Mediplane Air Ambulance with critical injuries.
The Cadillac’s passenger, Mildred M. Kauffman, 89, of Lincoln City, and the Kia’s passenger, William Lee Ball Jr., 74, of Salem, were transported by ambulance to the Legacy Emanuel with serious injuries.
All occupants were using safety restraints.
OSP troopers are continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash.
