EUGENE, Ore. — More than 100 Lane County women received free breast cancer screenings, thanks to a $25,000 grant and a matching contribution from the Oregon Medical Group.
The women benefiting from the program go through Cascade Health Solutions’ low-cost clinic for the uninsured, and then they’re referred to Oregon Medical Group for their mammogram.
“So we’ve seen about 110 patients at this point and picked up one breast cancer at this point, so, serving a need that definitely is out there for low-income women,” said Dr. James Manwill, Oregon Medical Group.
Doctors say screening and early detection are key in beating breast cancer.
