Wreaths to Remember Vets

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Hundreds of veterans around Eugene and Springfield were honored Saturday as part of the annual “Wreaths Across America”.

Although the campaign started back in 2002, it’s been celebrated locally for the last three years.

Local organizers say it’s important for the nearly 4,000 vets in this area to be remembered during the holidays.

“It tugs at my heart because I know, being a veteran’s wife and a veteran’s daughter, I know what they’ve gone through to serve this country,” said Roxanne Cole, an organizer for the event.

Cole says they handed out about 200 wreaths Saturday at three different locations: Springfield Memorial Gardens, Lane Memorial Gardens, and West Lawn Memorial Parks.
