Zelich in Court for Hiding Corpses

Courtesy WTMJGENEVA, Wisc. — Fifty-two-year old Steven Zelich appeared in court on Thursday.

He’s charged with two counts of hiding a corpse.

The bodies of 21-year-old Jenny Gamez and 37-year-old Laura Simonson were found in a suitcase, along a highway in the town of Geneva on June 5.

“Upon arriving to the crime scene I met with Officer Anderson. He showed me two suitcases that were laying on the side of the road.//What was inside?//Deceased people,” said Detective Jeffrey Recknagel, Walworth County Sheriff’s Office.

Zelich has not been charged in the deaths of the women.

Walworth County authorities are handing over those cases to officials in Rochester, Minnesota and the city of Kenosha, where the deaths are believed to have occurred.
