Millions of breast cancers survivors have taken Tamoxifen and Aromatase to keep the cancer from coming back, but are they taking it long enough?
Patients typically take the drugs for five years, following surgery and chemo.
Now a new study suggests doctors may want to rethink the five year limit and suggest women take these drugs for even longer.
Researchers studied more than 60,000 survivors who took Tamoxifen and monitored them for 20 years to see if the cancer would return.
They found that even after five years of taking the drug, there was still a risk of recurrence. Researchers found taking the drugs longer might help.
They do warn the drugs come with side effects that can be potentially dangerous.
