EUGENE, Ore. – You don’t have to leave your pets at home if you’re planning to take part in this year’s Race for the Cure.

They’re welcoming back Pups in Pink for a second year at Valley River Center in Eugene. Every adult walker can register one dog.

There aren’t any weight or size limits, but your pet must be on a leash at all times.

Organizers said your dog needs to be at least six months old and current on all their vaccinations. Female dogs in heat are not allowed, and neither are dogs that are aggressive toward other animals or strangers.

Andrew Asato with Komen said dogs can be a huge emotional support for their owners when they go through breast cancer treatment.

“Pups in Pink will be coming back. It was a great hit,” Asato said. “Dogs are part of our family and they provide that love and companionship when an individual is going through treatment.”

If you want to help in the battle against breast cancer, this year’s Race for the Cure is March 4, 2018 at Valley River Center.
