EUGENE, Ore. – A sweet dog named Lakita was a big hit during her visit to KEZI 9 News for the Midday newscast on Tuesday.
Lakita is a Labrador retriever/Akita mix who wags her tail constantly and would make a great addition to many families. She is a friendly dog who knows basic commands and loves going for walks. Volunteers say she is a dream to walk on a leash.
“She is a big, goofy sweet dog – an all-around wonderful dog,” said Megan Brezovar of Greenhill Humane Society.
Lakita is playful, has a medium energy level and is looking for a kind, loving family. She must be the only pet in the household. She is at Greenhill Humane Society because her owner died and other family members were unable to care for her.
Lakita is 11 years old and weighs 97 pounds. Her adoption fee has been reduced to $45 with the help of a sponsorship. This fee helps pay the cost of vaccinations, microchip identification, spaying or neutering, a certificate for a free veterinary exam and more.
Lakita visited KEZI 9 News as Pet of the Week. Every Tuesday, KEZI showcases homeless pets on the Midday newscast at 11 a.m. If you are interested in Lakita or other animals at Greenhill Humane Society, click here.
Greenhill Humane Society is located at 88530 Green Hill Road and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Its phone number is 541-689-1503.
To ensure a good match is made, potential adopters must go to the animal shelter in person to meet with the animal and kennel staff. All family members should be present to ensure the animal is compatible with everyone in the household.
