EUGENE, Ore. – This Labrador retriever mix is a favorite among shelter volunteers, and if you spend a little time with him it’s easy to see why.
Baloo is a smart guy who staff members describe as hilarious to play with. He is friendly, affectionate, loves to fetch and knows commands such as “shake”, “sit” and “down.” He enjoys tummy rubs, chew toys and gives big, sloppy kisses. He has a high energy level, but will also display a calm side when necessary.
Baloo could go to a family with older children. He has been “dog selective” at the shelter, so will need to meet any potential canine friends. He should go to a home without cats.
Shelter staffers have been teaching Baloo obedience skills, and this training should continue with his new family. He should also go to a household that will see that he gets plenty of exercise.
Baloo is 4-years-old, weighs 80 pounds and arrived at the animal shelter as a stray on May 31. His fee is $175, which includes the cost of vaccinations, microchip identification, spaying or neutering, a certificate for a free veterinary exam and more.
Baloo visited KEZI 9 News on Tuesday as Pet of the Week. Every Tuesday, KEZI showcases homeless pets on the Midday newscast at 11 a.m. If you are interested in Baloo or other animals at Greenhill Humane Society, click here.
Greenhill Humane Society is located at 88530 Green Hill Road and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Its phone number is 541-689-1503.
To ensure a good match is made, potential adopters must go to the animal shelter in person to meet with the animal and kennel staff. All family members should be present to ensure the animal is compatible with everyone in the household.
