EUGENE, Ore. – Gonzo is a happy dog who will be a wonderful pet for someone willing to spend a little time earning his trust.

Gonzo is slow to warm up to new people, but once he gets to know someone he considers them his best friend.

This short-coat Chihuahua mix arrived at Greenhill Humane Society as a stray. Volunteers describe him as a happy, well behaved dog. “He knows sit and down and does the cutest twirl when excited,” one volunteer said.

They said Gonzo has a high energy level and enjoys going for walks.

Gonzo could go to a home with another small dog, and possibly even a cat. He cannot go to a home with children.

Gonzo weighs 15 pounds and his fee is $185. This includes the cost of vaccinations, microchip identification, spaying or neutering, a certificate for a free veterinary exam and more.

Gonzo visited KEZI 9 News as Pet of the Week. Every Tuesday, KEZI showcases homeless pets on the Midday newscast at 11 a.m. If you are interested in Gonzo or other animals at Greenhill Humane Society, click here.

Greenhill Humane Society is located at 88530 Green Hill Road and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Its phone number is 541-689-1503.

To ensure a good match is made, potential adopters must go to the animal shelter in person to meet with the animal and kennel staff. All family members should be present to ensure the animal is compatible with everyone in the household.
