EUGENE, Ore. – Zandy, a 3-year-old female mixed breed dog, became a fast favorite during her visit to KEZI 9 News on Tuesday.

Zandy is a sweet, friendly dog that loves to play fetch and has a calm demeanor. She also does well on a leash.

This special dog can go to a family with children of any age. Ideally she would go home to an active family that will shower her with love and attention and take her on daily walks and many adventures.

She may be able to go to a family that already has a dog, but she will need to meet the dog first to determine if they are compatible. She must go to a home without cats.

Zandy weighs 46 pounds and her adoption fee is $175. This includes the cost of vaccinations, microchip identification, spaying or neutering, a certificate for a free veterinary exam and more.

Every Tuesday, KEZI showcases homeless pets on the Midday newscast at 11 a.m.

If you are interested in Zandy or other animals at First Avenue Shelter or Greenhill Humane Society, click here.

Greenhill Humane Society is currently undergoing a renovation, but still has kittens, cats and small animals available for adoption. Adoptable dogs are available at First Avenue Shelter during this time.

First Avenue Shelter is located at 3970 W. First Avenue in Eugene. The phone number is (541) 844-1777. Its hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It is closed Sunday and Monday.

Greenhill Humane Society is located at 88530 Green Hill Road. The phone number is (541) 689-1503. Greenhill hours are Friday through Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is closed Wednesday and Thursday.

To ensure a good match is made, potential adopters must go to the animal shelter in person to meet with the animal and kennel staff. All family members should be present to ensure the dog is compatible with everyone in the household.
