EUGENE, Ore. -- Before you throw away those old, broken Christmas lights there's a way to put them to good use.
NextStep Recycling in Eugene is accepting working and non-working Christmas lights.
They sell the lights to Schnitzer Steel which repurposes the material, thereby reducing waste sent to landfills.
NextStep donates the money from recycling the lights to the charities "Bags of Love" and "Healthy Moves." They hope to raise $2,000 for each charity and recycle $2,000 worth of lights.
