SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – One business is offering job opportunities to high school graduates in Springfield.

Anyone 18 or older can apply to the Rosboro sawmill, and the training depends on the position applied for. New workers shadow experienced employees as part of the training process.

Students are paid during their training, and their wage gradually increases over time.

KEZI 9 News talked to employee Tyler Harris, who is one of the youngest currently working at the sawmill. He said it’s rewarding to be able to see his growth in the company.

“Coming into it as a new person, there’s a whole lot going on at one time in a mill, especially,” Harris said. “So to be able to break it down and do it all and like perform or outperform everybody else is a neat thing.”

Harris also said working with people that have been there for more than 20 years keeps you motivated to push yourself even harder.
