Skilled to Work: LCC Manufacturing Technology Program

Lane Community College is helping fill high demand positions through its Manufacturing Technology Program.

EUGENE, Ore. - The Lane Community College Manufacturing Technology Program is looking for students interested in the manufacturing industry. Teachers at the school said it's an industry that is in a high demand for workers.

Employers throughout Western Oregon said they are losing qualified employees to retirement, and struggling to find skilled replacements. That's why KEZI is partnering with industry leaders in the "Skilled to Work" campaign.

LCC offers more than 20 courses that give specific certifications in manufacturing, programming, manual and CNC work.

"We've got a lot of jobs to fill and I'd love students to come if they have an interest," said Steve Caffey, the Lead Manufacturing Instructor. "They can come to our advisory staff and then I can give them a tour and we can talk about it."

The hands-on courses give students the skills they need to fill those industry positions and also teach students how to write code.
