EUGENE, Ore. -- With elbow grease and attention to detail, students at Crow Middle/High School are getting an early start with career technical education (CTE).

Welding is a key skill that kids are learning, and they create everything from metal shelves to fire pits.

Also as part of the school’s CTE courses, the students also have the chance to learn about farming and cooking.

“Everybody needs to know where their food comes from,” teacher Tracy Engholm said. “And every job out there is just a few steps away from agriculture.”

Crow Middle/High School’s CTE program recently received state approval for classes in agricultural mechanics and agribusiness.
