EUGENE, Ore. -- Every St. Vincent De Paul location accepts Styrofoam to be recycled. That includes drop off sites.
They don't take Styrofoam containers. They do require that it be clean and white.
From there, the Styrofoam is taken to warehouses where it is compressed for reuse. The compressed Styrofoam can be turned into a number of things including picture frames, molding, or even back into packaging material.
Non-recycled Styrofoam is taken to the landfill where it never breaks down.
St. Vincent's recycling process helps cut back on disposable material use and it also creates more jobs for the nonprofit.
