CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Some volunteers at the Benton County Fair & Rodeo are doing their part to protect the environment.
The Corvallis Rotary Club Green Team is educating people on composting and recycling.

Volunteers have teamed up with fair organizers and Republic Services. You’ll find them by the trash cans near the food trucks, making sure everything that can be reused doesn’t end up in the landfill.
With more than 20,000 people expected to attend the fair, one volunteer said they’ll be saving a lot of waste.
“One wrong decision can negatively impact a compostable trash can or a recycle unit,” volunteer Mark Kalmar said. “So by having people stationed here, we help enable them to do their job.”
The Green Team will be out there every day until the fair ends Saturday night.
