CORVALLIS, Ore. – The evacuation site at the Benton County Fairgrounds will close at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
County officials said the site has been open since Sept. 8 for people and livestock impacted by recent wildfires.
“At this time, a small number of individuals are taking shelter at the fairgrounds,” said Bryan Lee, Benton County Emergency Manager.
As evacuation areas are downgraded, many are returning home, officials said.
Moving forward, the county will work with Red Cross to connect people with individual assistance.
County staff will be at the fairgrounds from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 7 to 10 a.m. on Saturday to help people with registering with other resources.
Livestock will continue to be supported at the fairgrounds while owners make arrangements for them to return home.
