SUTHERLIN, Ore. -- Crews had to call in two helicopters to stop a fire in its tracks on Thursday.
The Green Valley Fire broke out three miles northwest of Sutherlin near the intersection of Green Valley Road and Rochester Bridge Road just before 3 p.m.
Firefighters say it was burning in brush and grass and spreading up a hillside.
The two helicopters dropped water on the flames while crews put containment lines around the blaze.
By the time the fire was under control, it had grown to three-and-a-half acres. Officials stayed at the scene into the evening to mop up hot spots.
The cause of the fire may be related to a power line, fire officials said.
