ROSEBURG, Ore. – Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer, the public health officer for Douglas County, has declared a local health emergency after recent wildfires, the board of commissioners say.
County officials said the decision takes into account hazardous waste created by the Archie Creek Fire. Immediate action must be taken to remove waste that is toxic, flammable, corrosive or reactive, according to the declaration.
The emergency state took effect just before noon on Oct. 5.
