DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- Big changes to evacuation levels were announced Monday night in Douglas County.

Residents are no longer under a countywide Level 1 order. However, some areas remain under one of the three levels.

Banks Creek Road to Hinkle Creek Roads remains under a Level 3 Go notice. Bar L Ranch Road, and Terrace and Upper Terrace drives have been downgraded to Level 2. Nonpareil Road from Plat K to Banks Creek Road and all side roads are now Level 1, down from Level 2.

Risks still exist in these areas, and any residents who return to their homes should use caution and watch for hazards. If you do not feel safe, evacuate and do not wait for further notification from the sheriff's office.

"The reduction in these areas does not mean that the danger is gone. Residents, if deciding to return, must continue to monitor official sources of information and be prepared to leave at a moment's notice if the situation changes," said Sgt. Brad O'Dell. "Something residents should also be aware of is the current hazardous air quality in the area. Those with heart or lung health conditions, young children and those who are elderly should really take caution with the smoke."
