SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Following an outpouring of support from the community at Springfield High School's Silke Field, a new donation site is being prepared in Lane County.

St. Vincent de Paul, United Way of Lane County and the Lane County Emergency Operations Center have been working with grassroots organizers of the donations center currently at Silke Field.

People bring donations for people affected by the Holiday Farm Fire.

A long-term drop-off and sorting location in north Eugene opened on Saturday. People can bring donations to 2699 Roosevelt Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

St. Vincent de Paul will begin managing the donation location and overall process.

The site at Silke Field is taking a pause on accepting donations at 1 p.m. on Saturday. People can still bring gas cards and grocery gift cards to that location.

The Lane Events Center should not receive donations. Any donations previously delivered there will be moved.

On Thursday, officials asked the community to stagger donations. They have already received many donations and want to make sure they will be getting new donations as the crisis response continues.

Volunteers have received enough donations that they have begun coordinating with communities in Medford, Portland and Salem. Trailers have been donated to assist in distribution.
