SALEM, Ore. – A total of 10 major fires burning in Oregon continue to be monitored by the Oregon Department of Forestry, down from 17 originally.
Fires are removed from the ODF list when they are 100% lined and firefighters are confident about their progress toward containment.
More than 7,500 firefighting personnel have been assigned to fight these fires. That number does not include government employees, landowners, forestland operators and community members who contribute every day.
There have also been resources from 39 states and multiple Canadian provinces fighting the fires alongside Oregonians.
About 1 million acres have burned in Oregon since the start of the year, which is nearly double the 10-year average of approximately 557,811 acres.
