Monroe, OR -- The Monroe Dragons will be competing for a third straight league title this season. Upperclassmen such as senior running back Zach Young knows this set of Dragons hasn't earned anything yet.
"It's obviously nice that we have a winning tradition here at Monroe," Young said. "But as a senior I just got to help the younger kids understand that this is a whole different year and we still have a lot to prove as a program.
Monroe lost experience on the offensive line. It's an offensive line that helped propel the Dragons to an undefeated league record last season (6-0). The team isn't concerned about having new guys step up.
"It's been nice having big guys block for me ever since my sophomore year and having big guys make holes for me," Young said. "We're just going to have to get creative with the personnel we have this year and just do what we have to do to win games."
Monroe begins that run for a three-peat against Sheridan at home in week one.
"We're just prepared to see a good Sheridan football team," Young said. "I think we got a lot of guys back too. We're ready."
