UPDATE: Marcola, Ore. – A man missing since Thursday afternoon was found in a wooded area near his Marcola house Friday morning.
Doug Davis, 80, was taken to a local hospital in fair condition. He will be evaluated for exposure to cold temperatures after being missing overnight.
Davis was found just before 10 a.m. Friday by search and rescue teams. He was last seen at about 1 p.m. Thursday walking away from his house on Wendling Road in Marcola.
His family reported him missing at about 6 p.m. Thursday. Davis suffers from advanced Alzheimer’s and is easily confused.
The Lane County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue was assisted in the search by Mohawk Valley Rural Fire District, Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Linn County Sheriff’s Office, Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, and Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
The Lane County Sheriff’s Office also issued its thanks to community members who helped in the search.
MARCOLA, Ore. -- A Marcola man is being sought by the Lane County Sheriff’s Office after he walked away from his house Thursday afternoon.
Doug Davis, 80, suffers from advanced Alzheimer’s disease and is easily confused and lost, the sheriff’s office said. Davis was last seen at about 1 p.m. when he walked away from his house in the Wendling Road area of Marcola. His family reported him missing Thursday just after 6 p.m.
The sheriff’s office is asking residents to check their outbuildings and vehicles for Davis or for any sign of him. He was last seen wearing a medium-blue pullover sweatshirt, blue jeans and brown shoes. Davis is 6 foot 2 inches tall and weighs 185 pounds.
