200 cases considered infectious in Lane County

The county reported their 17th coronavirus-related death.

LANE COUNTY, Ore. – Lane County’s surge in cases continues, and one more resident has died.

On Friday, public health officials reported there are 46 new cases, making a total of 1,164 confirmed and presumptive cases since the start of the pandemic.

Of those, 200 people are considered infectious, meaning it has been fewer than 10 days since their symptoms began.

Eight people are in the hospital.

Officials said the county’s 17th COVID-19 death is a 76-year-old man who died Sept. 1. He was from the Eugene-Springfield area. The Oregon Health Authority reviewed the death and determined the cause was coronavirus related.

Those who had contact with a case will be contacted by Lane County Public Health.
