EUGENE, Ore. -- Dozens of alleged members of a major international drug ring have been arrested, and according to officials, the organization is based in Lane County.
U.S. Attorney Billy J. Williams made the announcement on Thursday.
A total of 35 people have been charged, including a ring leader, Williams said. The ring is believed to have been distributing drugs such as methamphetamine, heroin and fentanyl from Mexico in Oregon between 2018 and 2020.
Victor Diaz-Ramirez, 30, who was living in Mexico, has been charged with conspiracy to distribute meth. Williams said this is part of the much larger investigation.
According to investigators, the drugs were transported from California to Oregon hidden in vehicles and then distributed throughout Oregon from a distribution cell in Lane County. The drugs allegedly made their way to local distributors in Eugene, Springfield and Salem.
A total of 260 pounds of meth, 16 pounds of heroin, 6 pounds of fentanyl, 76 firearms, 1 grenade, multiple vehicles, and more than $760,000 in cash was seized as part of the investigating.
