EUGENE, Ore. -- The strike involving Lane County AFSCME employees shut down five county health clinics Wednesday.

Parking lots remained empty all day at Delta Oaks, one of the clinics impacted by the strike.

Patients who showed up found a note that redirected them to other clinics that are open and providing health services. The patients walked away without services.

One woman said she stopped by because she needed a prescription from the doctor. Another person said she needed to pick up medical records for her granddaughter, but was planning to go to one of the sites listed on the note.

Roberto Hernandez said the purpose of his visit was for his mom and the closure of the clinic was a huge inconvenience for him.

"Now I need to look for another place." he said. "I lose money, I lose time, and I have a bad day at my job."

Lane County has set up a special hotline to respond to any questions regarding the services affected.

Calls are accepted from 9-4 p.m., Monday through Friday, until a resolution is reached.
