EUGENE, Ore. -- By a 8 to 0 vote, the Eugene City Council gave the go-ahead for a fifth Rest Stop in the city, to be located at the intersection of Hilyard and 34th Avenue.

City staff told councilors that there was strong support from neighbors in the area.

Councilor Alan Zelenka tells KEZI 9 news that he would like to see at least one rest stop in each of the city's nine wards.

Also Monday night, the council approved a proposal from St. Vincent de Paul to erect a dusk-to-dawn tented shelter for 80 people in the 700 block of Highway 99.
