Woman's body found in car pulled out of McKenzie River

A missing woman’s body has been found in a car that was submerged in the McKenzie River off of Highway 126.

CEDAR FLAT, Ore. – A missing woman’s body has been found in a car that was submerged in the McKenzie River off of Highway 126. 

The Lane County Sheriff's Office said Dolores Maher, 76, was found dead inside her car Wednesday afternoon. The car was spotted in the river about half a mile up Deerhorn Road, just east of Cedar Flat around 11 a.m.

Deputies said Maher left her home to go to the market at 2 p.m. Tuesday, but did not return. They searched the area but were not able to find her.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the death, along with the Lane County Medical Examiner’s Office.
