EUGENE, Ore. -- The Eugene 4J school board on Wednesday unanimously approved a plan for students to return to the classroom two weeks after teachers become fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
The first students to return will be in kindergarten through first grade. Classes will be taught in a hybrid manner, meaning some classes will remain online.
The exact day when children will return is dependent on when the second dose of the vaccine becomes available. Early estimates are it could come around a week before spring break, which begins March 22. A Eugene School District spokesperson said this also depends on if the county meets state metrics around that time.
The school district said it will be sending more information out to parents on Thursday.
This is a developing story.
