4J submits drawings for new North Eugene High School

The demolition of Silver Lea school is scheduled to begin in November.

EUGENE, Ore. -- Designs are taking shape for the new North Eugene High School.

The 4J school district submitted conceptual plans to the city of Eugene's planning and development department.

The design calls for a 218,200-square-foot, two-story building with a lush courtyard in the center, two gymnasiums, and a theater.

A project schedule included in the plans calls for the destruction of Silver Lea school beginning in November. Foundation work for the new building should start in February 2021, with main construction beginning in June 2021.

Construction is expected to take two years, with classes beginning in the fall of 2023.
