EUGENE, Ore. -- Coming off a successful trip to the Pac-12 championships in Tucson, Arizona, Oregon is preparing to send 57 Ducks to Sacramento, California for NCAA Preliminaries.

The men of Oregon finished in 1st place for their 13 consecutive conference title, while the women won second place for the second year in a row.

Cravon Gillespie had another record breaking day, clocking in at (9.97) in the 100m to break the school record, and tied the Pac-12 Championships meet record. He also ran a 20.17 in the 200m to break his own school record, and contributed to the Ducks' 4X100 team, which set the school record with a time of 38.72. Gillespie was named the 2019 Pac-12 Men's Track Athlete of the Year.

"When you start running that fast, there's only a few places in the United States that can say they have a sub-10 second 100 meter guy that's ever graced their campuses, and we're fortunate enough to have one of them," said head coach, Robert Johnson.

With construction still in progress at the historic Hayward Field, the Ducks have not held a true home track meet this year, and have had to improvise on practices throughout the season. However, it hasn't affected the team's performance on the track.

"it means a lot. You know we're over at a middle school a couple days a week whenever you know, it's not raining," said Gillespie. "But for us to continue to stay focused and not let that get to us. Umm same kind of like indoor season, we don't have an indoor track, a lot of people around the country do have an indoor track, so when we get to those meets we still have to do what we have to do. We have to perform, so uhh to go to practice each and every day and you know that's the hand that we're dealt right now, but to continue to just focus, I think we're doing pretty good."

The NCAA West Prelims begin Thursday, May 23rd.
