SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - A group of protesters showed up at Springfield Police's National Night Out event on Tuesday evening.

National Night Out is when police meet with community members in the area and talk about ways to make the neighborhoods safer.

There were three locations at Meadow Park, Volunteer Park, and Jesse Maine Park from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A group of about 12 protesters with the Black Unity group showed up holding signs and addressing the police.

They referred to a protest that occurred at Jesse Main Park on July 29th, 2020 where they said SPD attacked the protesters.

The group was on scene for roughly five minutes before getting back on a bus and driving off.

Black Unity posted a Facebook Live of the protest.
