76 new coronavirus cases statewide

Officials reported 76 new coronavirus cases and one death Saturday, bringing the state total to 2,253 and the death toll to 87.

SALEM, Ore.-- Officials reported 76 new coronavirus cases and one death Saturday, bringing the state total to 2,253. 

The death toll remains at 87.

In our area, the Oregon Health Authority reported four new cases in Linn County for a total of 71.

Coos Health and Wellness reported the 9th COVID-19 case in the Shutter Creek Correctional Institution. The individual is an employee at the facility and is the first confirmed case in the county spread through community transmission.

Lane County's total remained at 50, while Douglas and Benton counties held steady at 23, and 28 cases respectively.

Lane County officials reported the county's second death Friday. The victim was a 59-year-old man from the Eugene-Springfield area who died in the hospital last night. He had underlying medical conditions.
