ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A fire destroyed a home in Roseburg late Sunday afternoon, killing the woman who lived there and her pets.
Crews with the Roseburg Fire Department said they were called out to the home off of NE Athena Avenue at 4:40 p.m. by a neighbor who saw smoke was coming out of the home. The neighbor also reported that the resident was inside and unable to exit the residence.

Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the fire but said 76-year-old Elaine Hamlin and two of her cats did not survive.
The exact cause of the fire is under investigation, but it was determined to be accidental in nature.
