EUGENE, Ore. -- Eugene police made a burglary arrest Monday morning at Buy 2.

Officers arrived to the 1800 block of West 6th Avenue at about 1 a.m. and found a completely shattered front door. They began a search nearby and inside the building. With the help of a police dog, Cwyk, the suspect was reportedly found inside the store bathroom.

“Apparently he had broken in, grabbed an alcoholic drink and proceeded to our back bathroom,” store manager James Bannick said.

Police identified the suspect as 40-year old Shawn Cary Gentry.

Employees said they were astonished by this incident. Store supervisor Mikalah Gonzales said incidents like this have happened in this store in the past, but a burglary like this was the first.

“I was like really? A beer? That’s all he did? I was expecting a lot more,” Gonzales said.

Gentry is currently in the Lane County Jail on a second-degree burglary charge.
