LANE COUNTY, Ore. -- A page that’s used for buying and selling items in Lane County was recently changed into a group for Trump supporters, causing controversy in the community.

The group's administrator, Karen Walker, renamed the “Bargain Basement of Lane County” page to “Trump Supporters of Lane County.”

When she posted on the page saying she was changing the purpose of the group, many members of the original Facebook page responded saying they feel violated because they did not sign up to be associated with a political party.

“It upset me that I was in a group that was a Trump supporter group," one member said. "I’m not politically affiliated with any parties, and I’m just not excited about being in a Trump supporting group.”

KEZI 9 News reached out to Facebook to see what their policy is on changing page names, and they responded: "A group page name can only be changed once every 28 days if you have more than 100 members.”

So, the administrator did not violate Facebook's terms of use, but some people are still outraged and have continued to leave the group.

Karen Walker did not want to talk on camera because of the retaliation she has been receiving from members since she’s changed the name.
