JUNCTION CITY, Ore. -- Officials are looking deeper into conduct at the Junction City Retirement and Assisted Living Community.

Senator James Manning said he visited Junction City after fielding reports of elder abuse happening inside.

“I’ve been hearing rumors of neglect," said Manning. "That we cannot have. I hear that the staff is not available. People are not being fed and their medications are (not) being delivered on time. We cannot have that.”

Manning said he is launching an investigation.

This comes as 42 residents were evacuated on Tuesday due to an extended power outage. They have not yet returned. Of the 42 residents, 25 went home with other family members and 17 were rehoused at another facility.

There is also an ongoing criminal investigation regarding a reported theft from back in early September.

The managing company, Frontier Management, declined to comment.
