Eugene, Ore.--The start of spring means sniffling and sneezing for many.

Doctors have issued new guidelines to help people with seasonal allergies manage their symptoms.

They recommend using a steroid nasal spray as the first line of defense.

For people with moderate to severe symptoms, doctors say combining nasal spray with an antihistamine is most effective.

These medications can make people sleepy, however, so make sure to use it with caution.

Also, though nasal sprays are safe and widely used,  people do sometimes get nosebleeds when they use them.
