EUGENE, Ore. -- Locals are planning a rally against a potential war with Iran Thursday.
The rally is planned for 12 p.m. at the Wayne Morse Free Speech Plaza in downtown Eugene.
Local groups including 350 Eugene, Extinction Rebellion and others are teaming up with national group Codepink to hold the rally.
Organizers say there will be a variety of speakers including state Sen. James Manning, who represents parts of Lane County.
Organizers are also calling on supporters to contact their congressional representatives and urge them against war as well.
The rally comes on the heels of an expected vote Thursday by the U.S. House of Representatives on President Donald Trump's ability to use military action against Iran without congressional approval amid simmering tensions between the U.S. and Iran.
President Trump has said that Iran appears to be standing down.
