Manhunt for Springfield shooting suspect ends in arrest

Shawn Jeffries was wanted in connection with a shooting at a Motel 6 in Springfield.

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Police officers arrested the suspect in a Springfield shooting Tuesday morning. 

Patrolling officers located Shawn Michael Jeffries, 29, of Springfield, around 3:30 a.m. in a parked vehicle at a market near 42nd Street and Jasper Road in Springfield.

According to the Springfield Police Department, Jeffries was armed with a semi-automatic handgun. He was taken into custody without incident. A second semi-automatic handgun which had been reported stolen was found during their investigtion.

Jeffries was wanted in connection with a shooting at a Motel 6 in Springfield on May 8. Officers say he allegedly fired a 9mm semi-automatic handgun into the parking lot during a heated dispute at 1:30 p.m., causing non-life-threatening injury to the victim. 

Jeffries is being held in Lane County Jail on charges of unlawful use of a firearm, felony assault, unlawful possession of a firearm and possessing a stolen firearm.
