Authorities identify man killed by train in Springfield

The man's identity has been released.

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- The Lane County Sheriff's Office has identified the man hit and killed by a train in Springfield on Monday.

Authorities said Armand Gagnon, 70, of Springfield was hit just before 1 p.m. near Jasper Road. They said their thoughts go out to the man's family and friends.

Deputies and Pleasant Hill Goshen Fire and Rescue responded to the scene. Bob Straub Parkway was closed at Jasper Road due to the investigation.
