Corvallis, Ore. -- Oregon State junior pitcher Christian Chamberlain was selected in the 4th round, 105th overall pick by the Kansas City Royals in the 2020 Major League Baseball Draft on Thursday.
Chamberlain pitched 47 games for the Beavers since 2018 and made 10 starts. He was 8-5 with a 3.09 career erned run average in 105 innings and held opponents to 70 hits and a .190 batting average. During the 2020 college baseball season, Chamberlain opened the season 2-1 with a 0.82 earned run average in four starts over 22 innings. He allowed just six hits while striking out 34 along with 11 walks.
Chamberlain is the eighth player taken all time by the Royals and the second in back to back years by the organization. The Royals took Grant Gambrell in 2019.
