Corvallis, Ore. -- Oregon State University men's soccer will be bolstering their coaching staff heading into the 2018 season with the addition of BJ Craig. The former associate head coach at Notre Dame will be joining the Beavers in a similar role, OSU head coach Terry Boss announced Tuesday.

Craig won a national title on the Fighting Irish staff, and oversaw a squad that produced 24 MLS draft picks, 10 All-Americans and 40 all-conference picks. That makes him the third member of the Beavs staff to have won an NCAA championship, joining head coach Terry Boss and Ryan Zinkham. Both won the 2014 national title with the University of Virginia.

As an AHC, Craig also coached and helped develop U.S. men's national team defender Matt Besler and MLS All-Star Justin Morrow. Both players have been capped at the U.S. senior level, with Besler featuring in the 2014 World Cup, among other tournaments.

Before his tenure at Notre Dame, he was an assistant at Louisville for a season, and also had a four year stint from 2003-2006 aty Saint Francis University, where he was named the 2004 NEC Coach of the Year.

"“BJ’s resume and background speak for themselves,” head coach Terry Boss said of Craig. “He’s one of the best coaches in the game and, more importantly, he is a great man and an exceptional leader of young men. BJ will add tremendous value to the program and his family will be a light in our community. I’m very excited to welcome BJ and his family into our Oregon State soccer family.”

Oregon State men's soccer opens their season August 24th against Syracuse University.
