EUGENE, Ore.-- The Bethel School District announced furlough days for its employees will start this week.
The district said all employees will take one furlough day a week through June to save $1 million for the next academic year's budget. Like other school districts across the state, Bethel is expecting major cuts to education funding.
District officials are expecting a $6.5 million budget cut next year.
Officials said students should not notice a significant change to distance learning.
Bethel staff will be eligible for unemployment through federal CARES Act funds.
