EUGENE, Ore. -- A bicyclist is recovering in the hospital after riding into the path of a passing driver near the University of Oregon on Tuesday.

Investigators said the bicyclist entered the intersection of East 18th Avenue and Hilyard Street when the passing driver had a green light.

"There are obviously a ton of bicyclists this time of year, especially with the warm weather," Eugene Police Officer Jesse Smith said. "Just be cognizant that the traffic lights do apply to you. And you're very difficult to see, especially this time of morning."

Investigators said the bicyclist was at fault in the accident. The cyclist is expected to be OK.
