North Bend bicyclist sent to hospital after hit and run

The driver fled the scene and was later located in the empire area of Coos Bay.

NORHT BEND, Ore. -- A bicyclist was sent to the hospital Sunday night after being struck by a car in the 1800 block of Newmark Avenue. 

Police responded to the crash around 9:45 p.m. after witnesses reported a gold Cadillac sedan traveling westbound and hitting a male bicyclist near the EZ Mart in North Bend.

The driver left the area without stopping to help the bicyclist and was later located in the Empire area of Coos Bay. Amanda Nicole Pence, 33, of Coos Bay was taken into custody and booked on charges including DUII, felony hit and run and probation violation.

The bicylist, a 58-year-old North Bend resident, was listed in stable condition at the Bay Area Hospital where he was being held for treatment and evaluation.
