Creswell, Ore. -- "I just...I think our guys are ahead of schedule then where they were last year," says Creswell head coach Scott Worsham. "I think they know...it was my first year as head coach last year...I think they know a little bit more of what's expected and risen to the occasion."

Creswell football, after a winless 2017, are a program that's rebuilding, but moving in a good direction.

"There's a lot more heart this year," says senior center Logan Johnson. "People are more in it. Last year they were just playing football to play football but this year people actually want to play football."

"We had a lot of guys that really committed to the weight room, conditioning drills, we did some extra summer offseason workouts and we had a good crew of guys out there every day working hard, getting better," Worsham follows up.

And in the head coach's second year, some changes in scheme may help change the culture.

"We put in a new offense this year," says Worsham. "I think it's a little more exciting. And we've got guys working hard, a lot harder I think than last year. They know it's gonna be tough again but I think the work and the commitment we've seen on these guys has been great overall."

"I just wanna put in the effort and show the underclassmen that through hard work and dedication you can improve the program," explains Dean Howard, a senior running back. "Just by doing your own goals and being a better player."

But shifting the offense isn't the only change. Reconfiguration from OSAA moved the Bulldogs around as well.

"We had the opportunity to move down to 2A and I think that'll be a better fit for us as well," Worsham describes. "We're low on numbers, we're a little low on size and I think that's gonna help us be a little bit more competitive this year too."

So it's a fresh start in Creswell and the Bulldogs hope a win or two might spark something down south.
