EUGENE, Ore. – Confusion over blood donations and COVID-19 vaccines is leading to a near emergency level of blood supply.

Bloodworks Northwest says people are postponing their donations after getting vaccinated, and they want to clarify that there is no need to wait to donate if you receive the Moderna, Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson vaccines.

Clearing up this confusion is critical as the demand for Type O blood is still extremely high.

If you would like to donate blood or would like more information about blood donations and coronavirus, visit Bloodworks Northwest’s website.
