EUGENE, Ore. -- The body of missing Junction City man Kevin Carlile, 38, has been found at Fern Ridge Reservoir.
The Lane County Sheriff's Office had been searching for him for days after he disappeared Monday while boating at the reservoir.
Family members assisting with the search on Friday found the body just before 1 p.m. far south of where he was last seen. Search and rescue personnel assisted with the recovery.
Deputies said Carlile jumped into the water without a life vest in order to help one of his children out of the water. At one point he, his wife, and two children were all in the water. Officials said high winds and rough waters made it difficult for the family to get back onto the boat. Carlile's wife and two children made it to shore safely, but Carlile did not.
Several resources were used in the search.
